Jeffrey Thompson has over nineteen years experience practicing law in Brevard County, Florida. He is a past president of the Brevard County Bar Association, a past member of The Florida Bar Attorney Grievance Committee for Brevard County, a past member of the Board of Directors of Brevard County Legal Aid, and a former prosecuting attorney. Throughout his career, he has chaired or served on numerous committees of both the state and local bar associations.
Mr. Thompson is more than just a leader in the legal community, however. He also contributes to the greater Brevard County community-as a United Way volunteer, a member of the Rockledge Rotary Club, a past board member and president of the Central Brevard Sharing Center, and a current member of the Board of Directors of the Cocoa Police Athletic League and the Board of Managers of the Central Brevard YMCA.
For fifteen years Mr. Thompson has provided pro bono legal representation for indigent clients as a Legal Aid panel attorney. He also serves on the Brevard County Domestic Violence Task Force.
In 1995 the Brevard County Commission appointed Mr. Thompson to serve on its Citizen Jail Advisory Committee, of which he was elected Chair, and in 1999, Brevard County Sheriff Philip B. Williams again appointed Mr. Thompson to serve on the Sheriff's Jail Review Committee.
Mr. Thompson's practice areas include Family and Matrimonial Law (divorce, child custody and visitation, support, alimony, property settlements, prenuptial agreements, enforcement and modification of final judgments, domestic violence injunctions, etc.), Criminal Law (felonies, misdemeanors, DUIs, criminal traffic offenses, drug offenses, sexual offenses, probation and parole violations, juvenile cases, etc.), and Civil Litigation (real property disputes, construction liens and defects, employment contracts, foreclosures, creditor claims, collection of judgments, etc.). He also represents several Homeowner Associations in the Suntree area of Melbourne.
