Practice Areas

These are the areas of law to which I devote my practice and in which I have the greatest experience:

FAMILY LAW--The term "Family Law" embraces a wide variety of legal matters besides divorce, alimony, child custody and child support. Family Law also includes paternity cases, dependency cases, domestic violence injunctions, prenuptial (also called antenuptial and premarital) agreements, adoptions, and the many other legal issues that can arise out of domestic and quasi-domestic relationships.

During my career I have represented men, women and children in a broad array of Family Law matters. I understand and appreciate the volatile emotions that often affect the parties in Family Law cases. That's why I believe it is absolutely necessary to give my clients objective advice based on the law, without fanning the emotional flames or wasting time and money in futile litigation.

CRIMINAL LAW--I began my legal career as a prosecuting attorney with the State Attorney's Office in Brevard County, and I've defended people accused of violating the criminal laws ever since leaving the State Attorney's Office in 1986. Having been a prosecutor, I understand what it takes for a prosecutor to get a conviction, and I understand what it takes to make sure the prosecutor doesn't get a conviction.

I have successfully represented clients charged with a broad spectrum of felonies and misdemeanors, including drug offenses, sexual offenses, homicides, DUI and other criminal traffic offenses, trespassing, theft and probation and parole violations. I also handle criminal appeals and post-conviction relief.

I understand that being arrested can be a stressful and embarrassing experience, and the outcome of a criminal case can have lifelong consequences. That's why it is critical to hire an attorney as soon as possible, and to hire an attorney with the experience needed to successfully handle the cas.

CIVIL LITIGATION--I am a trial lawyer, and litigation means trial work. I have successfully represented clients in accident and negligence cases, defective product cases, slip-and-fall cases, real estate and foreclosure cases, construction liens and defects cases, boundary disputes, collection cases, employment contract cases, warranty claims and many other civil cases.

The bottom line in litigation is always economic--no client wants to throw good money after bad or pay $1,000 in legal fees to recover $500 in damages. I'm not in this profession to waste my time or my client's money.

HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATIONS--Over the past several years, I have devoted a portion of my practice to representing local homeowner associations. Currently, I represent the homeowner associations for the following subdivisions--The Villas at Suntree, The Courtyards at Suntree, Players Club at Suntree, Suntree Forest, Indian River Isles and Ocean Woods. Although my responsibilities typically include answering legal questions for the board of directors, writing demand letters and filing liens against delinquent homeowners, I have also represented homeowner associations in contested civil lawsuits.
